The climate change continues to cause desertification and worsen the supply of water. People in Chad continue to struggle to find the 15-20 liters of water that is needed for a daily use, instead only finding 5-6 liters. The one thing that has been most affected by the desertification, is Lake Chad. The volume of Lake Chad has reduced to a tenth of what it was in the 1960's. About half a century ago Lake Chad was 20,000 km sq. After the recurring of droughts in the 1970's and 1980's Lake Chad shrank to about 2,000 km sq.
